Hello and sending you a warm welcome! My name is Carisse, and I’m a Singaporean-American transracial adoptee raised in the Bay Area. I am a social justice focused, trauma-informed, relational therapist and have been providing psychotherapy for over five years. I strongly believe social justice and mental health cannot be separated, because the intersections of privilege and oppression impact us all.
Making the decision to seek support takes an abundance of strength and can be immensely empowering. We all possess a blend of values, identities, dreams, thoughts, fears, and experiences; together, we will partner in creating an individualized plan for meaningful change and growth in alignment with your cultural identities, goals, and values. Life, stress, relationships, transitions, grief/loss, and everything in between can be challenging and wear us down. I would be honored to support you through all the things. We all have a unique narrative and I honor each individual as a vehicle of change and expert in their own life. I strive to give you a warm, collaborative, contextual approach that is culturally sensitive, integrates your lived experiences, and centers your strengths. Storytelling can be a powerful way to connect, reflect, feel, and heal; it would be an honor to bear witness to your story. I also deeply appreciate working with members of my BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Adoptee communities! We are all trying our best to live a meaningful and connected life, and I would be honored to be there alongside you on this journey. |
Outside of therapy, I love exploring nature and hiking, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, listening to live music, spending time with my family/loved ones, and cooking new recipes! You can also find me cuddling and playing with Citti and Patchouli, my two kitties (who will most likely come say hi to you on Zoom!) watching crime tv shows and documentaries, and enjoying new mom life.
